Siargao, the surfing capital of the Philippines, offers a slice of paradise for every surfer. From the world-renowned Cloud 9 to beginner-friendly waves, this island gem has something for everyone. Get ready to discover your next surf adventure!
Welcome to Siargao
Welcome to Siargao, the teardrop-shaped island in the Philippines that has become a mecca for surfers from all over the world. Known as the "Surfing Capital of the Philippines," Siargao offers a unique blend of consistent waves, stunning natural beauty, and a laid-back island vibe that will capture your heart.
The Waves
Siargao is blessed with a wide variety of surf spots that cater to all levels of experience. The most famous of these is Cloud 9, a world-class right-hand reef break that barrels perfectly over a shallow reef. This wave is not for the faint of heart and is best suited for experienced surfers. But don't worry if you're not a pro, there are plenty of other waves to choose from. Just a short paddle away from Cloud 9, you'll find Jacking Horse, a more forgiving wave that's perfect for intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills. For beginners, Guiuan (also known as Secret Garden) offers gentle, rolling waves in a beautiful, secluded setting.
Best Time to Visit
The prime surfing season in Siargao runs from September to November, when the swells are at their most consistent and the famous Cloud 9 is at its best. However, the beauty of Siargao is that you can find good waves year-round. The so-called "off-season" from December to August can still offer plenty of fun waves, especially for beginners and intermediate surfers, with the added bonus of fewer crowds.
For Every Surfer
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, Siargao has something for you. There are numerous surf schools and local instructors who can get you up and riding in no time. You can also rent boards at most surf spots, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own. The local surf community is incredibly welcoming and always happy to share a wave and a smile.
The Vibe
What truly sets Siargao apart is its incredible vibe. The island has a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere that is a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Days are spent surfing, exploring the island's natural wonders, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Evenings are for sharing stories with fellow surfers over a cold beer and fresh seafood. Siargao is more than just a surf trip; it's an experience that will stay with you long after you've left its shores.
